Default Sponsorships...

...this is something that is done over at BOTB and other sports forums that I'd like to see us do. Pick a player for the Cardinals (can be anywhere in the system) and "sponsor" him here at SLSF. Try to just pick one (I know I'm hypocritical in this regard). D.GOOCH

Hmmm I think I'll take my name sake. Albert "Red" Schoendienst
Thought my name was for that other Albert didn't ya? This one I know is going to be a Cardinal forever. I can only hope that number 5 will remain a Cardinal forever.

Ank for me. While sponsorships generally are about current players, I see no reason why you can't choose retired players. D.GOOCH

I thought it was being done here too, at least by those who chose to do it.

It looks as though you'll need to negotiate with the "hypocrite".

I've always been a sucker for long shots, which probably was an apt description of Mather when I first chose him.

I like Barton, but instead will do Wainwright. - But what are sponser responsibilities - to put him in your signature? -

Whatever you feel like. I started a thread on Mather in the Bush League last year, but Brak and Jimmcg were more diligent than I was at posting updates. I familiarized myself somewhat with Mather's minor league record and reminded people when the occasion arose that he was a shortstop at the time he was drafted. When someone at BOTB posted that Mather was "... reportedly pretty bad anywhere in the field", I challenged him to produce the reports. (No response yet.)

Again, your option. The primary advantage of placing the player's name in your signature is to stake an "official" claim. Maybe someday, Mather will read this forum and offer me an autographed baseball?

That's a tough one. There are no female Cardinals. Well, a few come close If a current one......Miles. If a past one..........Musial (no surprise here).

Didn't even notice that he's got *two* guys under his sponsorship.

OK, then - I'll sponsor two guys as well. Gibby, and Carpenter. The Cards' two Cy Young winners.

I am interested in Parisi. Talked to him when he broke into the Midwest League at Beloit. And, Dyar Miller told me that last year his numbers were bad only because he had the courage to shoot a year changing his motion. It's great to see the management so high on him this year.

On the other hand, if someone who posts more here wants him, I'd defer. That way Mike's name would be out walking around more often.

I will watch for the next long distance project from QC again.

I'll take Chris Perez.

It will be good if sponsors help keep us all informed on what is going on with the player(s) we are sponsoring..
